Darren Ferris Admits He Tried to Get Mitch Marner to Screw Over the Toronto Maple Leafs
Mitch Marner's agent, Darren Ferris, has had a lot to say about the Toronto Maple Leafs as of late, and it appears as though he tried to sabotage the team in July.
Darren Ferris is someone who is not well-liked by Toronto Maple Leafs fans, and that probably won't change anytime soon.
Overall, the agent has been doing some media as of late, and it is here where he has spilled the beans on Mitch Marner and his free agency decision.
Of course, the forward was traded to the Las Vegas Golden Knights for Nicolas Roy. The sign-and-trade was unnecessary on Marner's part, but he wanted eight years, and he at least wanted to leave the Leafs with something.
As it turns out, if Ferris had gotten his way, the Leafs would have come out of this with absolutely nothing to show for it.

While speaking to '100% Hockey', the controversial agent noted that he wanted Marner to explore all of his options as opposed to doing a sign-and-trade right away.
However, Marner wasn't thrilled about being wined and dine by numerous teams over the course of a week or two.
From my perspective as an agent, I would have preferred him to go through the full process, sit down with multiple teams, and explore every option. But for him, it was clear he didn't want to go through that 'dog and pony show' or go to free agency when he already knew where he wanted to be.
For all of his faults, there is no doubt that Marner took the honorable route here, even when he did not need to.
As for Darren Ferris, he continues to come across as someone who is entirely too hostile to the Toronto Maple Leafs fanbase.
At the end of the day, Ferris might be the biggest reason why Leafs fans will never respect Marner ever again.
