Elliotte Friedman recently weighed in on Mitch Marner's comments about the Toronto Maple Leafs, and as you can imagine, the insider had a witty rebuttal.
Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs are no longer in partnership with one another. Instead, the superstar forward is a member of the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
It was a separation that a lot of fans saw coming, although it still stings. At the end of the day, Marner was a hometown kid who should have retired as a Leaf.
To add insult to injury, Marner has had some less-than-complimentary words for Maple Leafs fans as of late. For instance, he accused them of harassment and doxxing his family.
Elliotte Friedman gets funny when talking about Mitch Marner
It feels as though the Marner and Maple Leafs storyline will never end, and this has led to some hilarious commentary from Elliotte Friedman on '32 Thoughts.'
In his latest episode, Friedman likened the Marner and Leafs situation to a divorce between two people who have kids together.
This is like a divorce. Some people support one partner, some people support the other partner, and the Leafs fans, they're the kids.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Mitch Marner's departure probably stings quite a bit. However, there is nothing that can be done about it.
At this point, fans should simply focus on more productive things, like the season which is about to begin in a few weeks from now.
Overall, the Leafs are looking like a good team this year, even without Marner on the roster. It won't be easy, but they won't be bad either.
No matter what, fans will be paying attention on January 23rd when Mitch Marner makes his official return to Toronto.
