Emergency services were required today inside Scotiabank Arena where the Leafs are hosting the Senators for game one of the battle of Ontario.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators are kicking off one of the most exciting first round matchups in the playoffs this season.
It will be the first time the teams have matchup up in the playoffs since 2004, when the Leafs won in a seven-game first-round series.
Toronto comes in as the heavy favorites, having won the Atlantic division title with 108 points in the regular season.
Ottawa finished 4th in the division with 97 points, which resulted in them getting the first wild card position.
But a disaster nearly ruined game one tonight as a fire broke out on the concourse of the 300 level.
Luckily, emergency crews were quick to respond, extinguishing the flames before they could do serious damage to the building.
Some fans were unable to reach their seats before puck drop as a result of the ordeal, but they were quickly allowed to return to their seats once the situation was under control.
Hopefully this is not a bad omen for Toronto, who are looking to go on a deep playoff run for the first time in the 'core-four' era.
They did lose all three matchups against the Senators in the regular season, which is certainly not a good sign but they are the much better team on paper.
