Former Toronto Maple Leafs Defenseman Signs Overvalued Contract with the Buffalo Sabres
Conor Timmins started last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs before going to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Now, he is with the Buffalo Sabres and has a nice deal.
Last season, Conor Timmins was a defenseman who just wasn't truly able to find success with the Maple Leafs, and it had the team looking to trade him.
At the deadline, that is exactly what they did, sending the defenseman to the Pittsburgh Penguins alongside Connor Dewar.
In the offseason, Timmins was traded to the Buffalo Sabres, where it was then revealed that he would be going to arbitration for a new contract.

Today, it was revealed that the defenseman was signed to a two-year deal worth a grand total of $4.4 million.
General manager Kevyn Adams was very adamant about why he brought in Timmins, noting that it will solidify their defense for the future.
Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams said the team targeted Timmins as part of its offseason objective to revamp the right side of its defense corps. The 6-foot-3 Timmins was the second addition to that end, following the acquisition of 6-foot-5 defenseman Michael Kesselring from Utah.
Adams really does like Timmins, and it is cool to see him on a team that wants him, as opposed to what was happening in Toronto.
«He's a solid two-way player that is big, a right shot, and I think it just really solidifies our D corps moving forward,» Adams said.
Having said that, Timmins' new deal could have a significant impact on Nick Robertson, who is also heading to arbitration.
Either way, some might find this contract to be a bit rich, but with the salary cap increasing, this should not be a surprise to anyone.
