Former Toronto Maple Leafs Goaltender Passes Away at 77
Former NHL goaltender and San Jose Sharks assistant general manager Wayne Thomas passed away recently at the age of 77.
Sad news has hit the hockey world today as it was revealed that former NHL goaltender Wayne Thomas passed away at the age of 77 from cancer.
The goaltender started his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens. He eventually went to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
However, the majority of his career was actually spent with the New York Rangers.

Following his retirement, Thomas became a respected executive for the San Jose Sharks.
He was the team's assistant general manager up until his passing, and the team offered a nice tribute on social media.
He is survived by his wife, Barb (Baeder); daughters Gretchen Kane [husband Tim, and son Harrison (11)] of New York, NY; and Abra Larson [husband Hans, and son Erik (17) and daughter Elsje (15)] of Deephaven, MN; brother Gary Thomas (wife Ruth) of Richmond, Ontario and many nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members.
During the last 17 years of Wayne's life, his greatest joy and love was his grandchildren. He was overjoyed to attend every activity, concert, play, and sporting event and was an active participant in their growth and development.

We join the Sharks and hockey community in mourning the passing of Rangers alum Wayne Thomas. We are thinking of Wayne's friends and loved ones during this difficult time.
