During the Summer, the Toronto Maple Leafs traded Mitch Marner to the Las Vegas Golden Knights for Nicolas Roy, and now, the deal is looking like a home run.

When free agency came around last Summer, it was clear to everyone that Mitch Marner's intentions were to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs.
At the time, the Leafs wanted something in return. Knowing that the Las Vegas Golden Knights were frontrunners for Marner, the Leafs tried to strike a deal. They knew a sign-and-trade was the only way the Golden Knights would get the superstar for eight years.
The Knights also needed salary cap relief. As a result, Nicolas Roy was sent to the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he was immediately made the team's third-line center.
Throughout the first few weeks of the season, Roy largely struggled. However, last night against the Florida Panthers, he had two assists and now has 17 points on the season. He is starting to get some attention, and the Golden Knights are feeling the effects.

Golden Knights wish they still had Nicolas Roy

In fact, Golden Knights reporter Jesse Granger claims the Golden Knights might be regretting their decision to trade Roy, even if Mitch Marner was worth it from a dollars standpoint.
The team is currently depleted when it comes to centers. Their depth is limited, and Roy is a player who could have been extremely valuable to the team.
At the time of the trade, Roy was seen as a consolation prize. A formality for a sign-and-trade that the Leafs had no leverage in.
However, we are now halfway through the season, and it is clear that Roy is showing himself to be one of the most valuable forwards in the middle six.
This is some great news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and one has to wonder whether or not the forward will be able to keep this up as the season goes on.
If he does, then it is hard to imagine a world in which the Maple Leafs dont't end up making it to the postseason.
