Trevor Zegras got a warm Anaheim welcome as Joel Quenneville's Ducks crowd showed the trade didn't erase what he meant there.

That's what made the NHL clip land on Thursday. Zegras came back to Honda Center as a Flyer, and the building responded with the kind of appreciation former core players do not always get.
It matters because this was not some quiet former player stop.
Zegras was the No. 9 pick in 2019, had back-to-back 60-point seasons in Anaheim, and became one of the faces of the Ducks during some lean years.
Anaheim moved him on June 23, 2025, sending him to Philadelphia for Ryan Poehling, a 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick.
That kind of deal usually leaves mixed feelings behind.
Instead, Ducks fans gave him love. That says plenty about how they still see him, even after the organization chose a different path.
Zegras has given Philadelphia real offense this season with 21 goals and 51 points in 62 games.
So this was not nostalgia for a player who disappeared after the trade.
Anaheim has also moved forward in the standings. The Ducks sit at 77 points through 67 games, right in the Pacific fight, which makes the reaction even more interesting.
Fans can embrace the team's direction and still appreciate Zegras.

Anaheim fans sent a message with that reaction

They were not booing the trade return. They were not turning it into a revenge scene.
They were acknowledging that Zegras helped carry the franchise's identity when there was not much else for fans to grab onto.
That's a big deal in a market that has seen change all over the roster and behind the bench. Quenneville was hired on May 8, 2025, and Anaheim's push this year has clearly shifted the mood around the club.
But Zegras still belongs to a big chunk of that recent Ducks story.
Skill, swagger, flash, and a lot of hard nights where he was still the player fans came to see.
So the video was light, but the meaning was not.
Anaheim fans showed they can move on without acting like Trevor Zegras never mattered.
