Insider Confirms the Toronto Maple Leafs' Plans for Brandon Carlo
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Brandon Carlo has been implicated in numerous trade rumors as of late, and fans are wondering what will come of all this.
This offseason, the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to add some top-six forwards. Unfortunately, the free agent market is paper-thin.
Of course, the Leafs could always look to make a trade, but they don't have the assets for that. Instead, they would have to trade a roster player, and Brandon Carlo has been mentioned.
While Carlo was fantastic at the end of the season, he is disposable. That might sound harsh, but if the choice is a top-six replacement for Mitch Marner and Carlo, general manager Brad Treliving will probably choose the forward.
Will the Toronto Maple Leafs trade Brandon Carlo?
With that in mind, it has been a couple of weeks since the Brandon Carlo rumors first surfaced, and we haven't heard anything since.
In fact, David Pagnotta was recently on the JD Bunkis Podcast, where he stated that it would be surprising for the Leafs to actually make a move here.

At the end of the day, Brandon Carlo is a solid contributor to the team, and if they move him, it will create some new issues for the roster.
Treliving can make other kinds of trades that won't impact the defensive core. Unfortunately, that is a lot easier said than done.
If you are a Maple Leafs fan, this summer is going to be filled with anxiety. It has been four days since July 1st, and there has yet to be a truly blockbuster signing.
Hopefully, the team can figure something out before it's too late. Otherwise, this franchise will not be winning the Atlantic Division anytime soon.
