Mitch Marner is expected to be placed on the trade block by the Toronto Maple Leafs and NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun reveals how far into the process the team is.

Since the Toronto Maple Leafs were bounced by the Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs earlier this month, their has been a head coaching change, and speculation has run rampant as to what player personnel will look like heading into the fall. While many names have been bountied around as to whether they will be sent packing or resigned, the main discussion in circles has been the status of whether or not forward Mitch Marner will be pulling on a new sweater next season.
According to NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Maple Leafs have not spoken to a single team, and thus the agent for Mitch Marner has not been asked to prepare a list of teams for a potential trade.
As frustrating as this may be for Leafs Nation to hear, it is not unusual, even if speculation over the last number of days has had Marner returning at only 5%. As it is only nearing the end of May and the Stanley Cup playoffs are still happening, if a trade were to happen, it is likely that it will occur closer to the NHL draft in late June.
What isn't even clear is whether or not Marner will be moved; however, the fan base in Toronto is the most impatient group in the entire National Hockey League. If they believe a change needs to happen, they want it done yesterday. But in the real world, that's not a realistic expectation.
