Insider Suggests Evgeni Malkin Could be Coming to the Atlantic Division, and It's Bad for the Maple Leafs

Evgeni Malkin is entering the twilight of his career, and just like his good buddy Sidney Crosby, he has been stuck on a mediocre team.

This has led to all kinds of trade rumors, although no one knows for sure if the Penguins are actually going to do something here.

There have been calls for the Penguins to trade Malkin, and while this would hurt the feelings of a lot of fans out there, it would also probably satisfy the forward, who still wants to win.

With that being said, there is a lot of speculation in the media right now, and someone who has an inside scoop is none other than Greg Wyshynski.

As Wyshynski explains, the Florida Panthers are in a bad spot with Aleksander Barkov out for the entire regular season.

Consequently, the Panthers are currently doing their due diligence and are very serious about potentially bringing in Malkin to play on their top line.

If this happens, there are going to be a lot of angry fans out there, and the Toronto Maple Leafs fandom should be part of that, as this would directly impact the Atlantic Division.

Of course, the odds of this coming to fruition are still fairly low at this point, but this is the NHL we are talking about here. Much stranger things have happened.

Only time will tell whether or not Malkin finishes his career in Pittsburgh, or if he is sent to a contender.
