Joseph Woll Gets an Earful from the Referee After Trying to Take Out Brad Marchand

Joseph Woll got his first start of the NHL Playoffs tonight as Anthony Stolarz is currently out with what many believe is a concussion.

After coming into Game 1 in relief of Stolarz, Woll was tasked with the impossible, but he made some key saves down the stretch and got his team the win.

Tonight, the Leafs are up 3-3 in the third period and while the goaltender has been a bit shaky at times, he has made a few big saves.

In the first period, Woll had a scary moment with Brad Marchand while playing the puck behind the net. As you can see, Woll stuck his hip out to clip Marchand but it backfired.

The goaltender was looking for a goalie interference call, although the referee was not having any of it. In fact, the official spoke to Woll and gave him a stern warning.

Given what happened to Stolarz, some fans might be feeling a bit of PTSD, as if what Marchand did was the wrong thing. However, Woll definitely deserves blame here.

This series has been a lot of fun so far. There has not been a lack of chaos throughout these first two games.

Now, the Maple Leafs just need to hang on. They have a tie game and if they break the deadlock, they will have a 2-0 series lead on the Panthers, which was unfathomable just a few days ago.

However, Leafs fans can't get ahead of themselves. They have had enough playoff heartbreaks over the years to know anything can happen.

Hopefully, Woll can make some big saves here and show his teammates that he is built for the moment.
