Leafs GM Brad Treliving is facing an unforeseen issue on the trade market

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is being tasked with making a trade to improve his roster, but there are some major hurdles right now.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in last place in the Atlantic Division, although they are tied with two other teams with 45 points.
They are just three points out of a Wild Card spot, and it feels like one long winning streak could put them in the postseason. Needless to say, there is no reason to panic sell.
General manager Brad Treliving is always looking for potential deals, and there are certainly some options out there. Unfortunately for him, the parity in the Eastern Conference has made it extremely difficult to get anything done.
Brad Treliving running into some issues right now
There is no consensus on "worst team in the East" or "worst team in the Atlantic." Instead, every single team is in striking distance of the playoffs.
According to Elliotte Friedman, this kind of parity has made it so that no one wants to sell. As a result, Brad Treliving is left with little to no options.
A lot of these teams would really like to [make a trade] but there just aren't a lot of trade partners 'cause everybody's so close
Players like Kiefer Sherwood, Rasmus Andersson, and Jonathan Marchessault are all players whom the Maple Leafs are taking a serious look at.
These players are in the Western Conference, which is no coincidence when you consider how most of these players are on teams with no chance of a playoff bid.
For now, Brad Treliving is just going to have to stay the course, and hope that the right player eventually comes around for this team.
