Linus Ullmark Completely Humiliates Himself and Auston Matthews Takes Advantage
Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark let in a truly horrific goal on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs and it was Auston Matthews with the heroics.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators are currently two periods into the battle of Ontario and as it stands, the Maple Leafs are losing by a score of 3-2.
They had the lead twice but some bad defense and suspect goaltending has put them in a pretty bad spot down the stretch and now, they must play catchup.
Meanwhile, the second Maple Leafs goal of the game came with a bit of luck courtesy of Senators goalie Linus Ullmark who arguably made the biggest mistake of his career.
Auston Matthews makes Linus Ullmark look silly
With the game tied 1-1, Ullmark came out of his net to play the puck but ended up getting tangled up with his own teammate.
Subsequently, the Max Domi got flung into the net and miraculously didn't take it off of its moorings.
Meanwhile, Auston Matthews scooped up the puck and buried it for his 24th goal of the NHL season. This ultimately put an end to a goal drought that was starting to get a lot of people concerned.
Despite this goal, the Leafs are down in the game, as we previously stated. It has not been the performance that fans were expecting and it remains clear that this Leafs team has some problems up and down the lineup.
They need to be better, especially with the playoffs on the horizon. The games are about to become more important, and a good seeding heading into the postseason is important.
Hopefully, the Leafs are able to come out and have a strong third period here as the fanbase is clamoring for it.
This is a home game during the battle of Ontario, and the urgency needs to be there with this team.
