Maple Leafs & David Kampf resolution hits an unexpected wall, insider provides new timeline

David Kampf won't be a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs for much longer, although despite their best efforts, the Leafs cannot seem to find a resolution.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been trying to trade David Kampf since the summer, but they have been unable to make anything official.
Overall, there is a good reason for these troubles. At the end of the day, Kampf is making too much money for what he produces, and teams don't want to take on this contract.
However, the Leafs are in a desperate spot right now. Kampf has been suspended without pay, and the expectation is for both sides to come to a permanent resolution very soon.
Unfortunately, with general manager Brad Treliving looking to make a trade, the Kampf situation has been dragged out a lot longer than expected.
David Kampf and the Toronto Maple Leafs hard at work
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the original plan was to have a trade or a resolution completed by the end of the weekend. Today is Tuesday, and there is still nothing.
As Pagnotta reports, it is likely to take a couple more days before the Kampf situation gets resolved, which is certainly an annoyance for the franchise.
No resolution on the David Kampf front, at this hour. Expectation (hope?) was to have this figured out by the end of the weekend. I'm told this still needs a few more days.
What makes this all so much worse is the fact that the Leafs are playing bad hockey right now, and they do not need any more distractions hanging over their head.
If you are a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, you are probably sick of hearing about Kampf, as are we. It's about time that this situation gets resolved, once and for all.
Only time will tell whether or not Treliving can make magic happen, or if both sides just throw their hands up in the air and terminate the deal.
