Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving Has His Trade Plans Disrupted by NHL Announcement
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving still has some moves that he needs to make, although the NHL's latest announcement could make an impact.
Brad Treliving is someone who has a lot of pressure on him right now to make a move. The Toronto Maple Leafs have holes to fill, and a top-six forward could be the key to the season.
The team has been trying to trade David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok, although much to Treliving's chagrin, no one wants them.
Going into the upcoming NHL season, it is very likely that the Leafs will not have a trade on the table. Of course, as the season goes on, that could very well change.
NHL Trade Deadline date revealed
As always, fans will be anticipating the NHL trade deadline, which is when teams are given the opportunity to make some big moves.
Teams love waiting until the last minute, and last season, the Leafs were big movers on deadline day as they acquired both Brandon Carlo and Scott Laughton.
Today, it was revealed by Pierre LeBrun that the NHL trade deadline would officially take place on March 6th, which is one day prior to what it was in 2025.
It's going to take a while before Brad Treliving truly understands the layout of his team and what they'll need heading into the postseason.
While the team does lack a puck-moving defenseman and a top-six forward, we could be proven wrong once the season starts.
No matter what, Treliving has his work cut out for him, and the trade deadline will be just one of many opportunities to improve the team.
Either way, we can't wait for the NHL season to finally start.
