Maple Leafs rival tries to purposely injure Joseph Woll during 1st rehab start
Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Joseph Woll made his highly anticipated return to game action for Toronto's AHL affiliate Marlies on Friday night. The 25 year old, Woll was returning from a high ankle sprain suffered against the Ottawa Senators on December 7th.
The Marlies were facing division rival Laval Rocket. It was anything but an easy game for the rookie goaltender who had to face a ton of adversity during the contest. The Rocket crashed the crease on multiple occasions making contact with Woll. The Toronto organization will be irritated by the treated on their goalie who is just recovering from his injury.
The American has had a strong rookie season for the Leafs appearing in fifteen games with a record of of 8-5-1. He has a .916 save percentage and 2.80 GAA.
The Toronto goaltender was victorious on the night making 36 saves in the 4-1 victory. Woll looked stellar in his return giving confidence to the organization who have such high hopes for the young goalie. He could find himself up with the Leafs by next week.
