Marc Savard finally speaks out after being fired by the Maple Leafs

Ever since last season, the Toronto Maple Leafs have struggled with their power play. However, this season has been particularly awful under Marc Savard.

In fact, Savard was fired last week after a rough stint with the team. Someone needed to go, and he was the scapegoat.

Now, Steve Sullivan is working with the Leafs, and as it turns out, he is doing a much better job with the power play, although it may just be a placebo effect.

Since Savard's firing, we haven't actually heard from the former Boston Bruins star. Today, that changed, albeit in a very subtle way.

The former NHL star took to his X account, where he changed his profile picture on two separate occasions. He went from a photo of himself with the Bruins to another photo of him taping his stick.

Although these aren't concrete comments, they are certainly a demonstration of someone who is simply ready to move on with their life.

Going forward, it will be interesting to see whether or not Savard is able to find himself a new job in the NHL or if he will have to take some time off.

His stint with the Leafs was not a success, and it would not be surprising if some teams would be against hiring him because of that.

However, Savard does bring a wealth of NHL experience with him, and there will certainly be some opportunities. If not in the NHL, then certainly the AHL will have something for him.

Whatever the case may be, we wish Marc Savard all the best as he enters a new chapter.
