Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has had ice in his veins since he got to the team, and his latest comments reflect his mentality as a player.

For years, the pervasive narrative around the NHL has been that Toronto is a difficult place to play and that anyone who plays there is going to be swallowed whole by the media.
Overall, there are certain players who have certainly been victims of media scrutiny. Some have handled it better than others, although it is fair to say guys like Mitch Marner have struggled with the pressure.
However, Matthew Knies has been the complete opposite. The guy is as cool as it gets, and you can tell he truly loves playing in the city.
He even signed a massive extension as an RFA this Summer, and it turned out to be a team-friendly deal that showcases his commitment to winning.

Matthews Knies talks pressures with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Recently, Knies participated in a media tour where he got to speak about playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and what he loves about it.
Knies even talked about the pressures of being a Leaf and how, when it really comes down to it, having the fans care is the best part of his job.
Everyone's always going to tell you the cliché that pressure is a privilege and all that. But I think it's honestly so much fun that there are so many people so invested in our group. I'd be upset with fans if they weren't happy with my game when I wasn't playing well.
Last season, Knies had 29 goals, and he will certainly be looking to one-up himself in that regard. Although it is not going to be an easy task.
Fans of the Maple Leafs will be quick to note that Knies no longer has Mitch Marner by his side, which could certainly cause some issues for his production.
That said, if the Leafs can get him a solid right-winger on the top line, then perhaps the forward won't have any issues reaching the 30-goal mark.
