Max Pacioretty was a solid forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, even if he found himself injured for the majority of the regular season.
During his prime, Patches was one of the best goal-scorers in the NHL. While he never hit the 40-goal mark, he was always extremely dependable for the Montreal Canadiens.
Unfortunately, injuries plagued the late stages of his career, and he found himself bouncing around the NHL. This Summer, Pacioretty could have returned to the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he ultimately chose not to.
On Monday, it was revealed that the former Canadiens captain would be retiring from the NHL, after a months-long consultation with his family.

With that in mind, it has been reported by Nick Alberga that, despite his retirement, Pacioretty will still be working within the hockey world.
The forward is now going to help coach at the University of Michigan. This is a great hockey program, and Pacioretty will certainly provide lots of expertise.
Despite interest from multiple clubs over the summer, Max Pacioretty appears to be hanging up his skates.

This is certainly good news, as we love to see retired players remain in the hockey world to mentor the next generation of potential stars.
While Pacioretty could still excel at the NHL level, he has chosen to prioritize his family and be closer to home, which is something we empathize with.
Only time will tell whether or not he gets the itch to make a comeback, and throw his retirement in the dust.
