Meanwhile, fans were tuning in afterwards to the Los Angeles Kings and Las Vegas Golden Knights game, where Mitch Marner would be making his debut with the latter.
Leafs fans were rooting against Marner, and in the end, they won the battle, with the forward having a tough moment in the shootout.

After nothing two assists during an impressive Golden Knights comeback, Marner was tasked with tying up the shootout and keeping the game going.
Instead, in typical Marner fashion, he ended up choking, as he pulled off a truly uninspiring move in the shootout.
On social media, fans were less than kind to the former Toronto Maple Leafs forward, and it is easy to see why, considering how he left the team.
In fact, many of the comments were about Marner's entourage, who have been known to be less than cooperative over the years.
Whatever the case may be, it is clear that Marner has a lot of chemistry with Jack Eichel, and this one game will not define the Golden Knights' season.
Regardless, Maple Leafs fans are going to find any excuse they can to laugh at their former player.
