Morgan Rielly Makes a Major Announcement and Some Leafs Fans Are Disappointed
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly had a difficult season, and with the offseason upon him, it appears as though Rielly has made a major decision.
In 82 games this season, Morgan Rielly was a -8 and finished the season with 41 points, which is well below what fans expect of him these days.
After all, he is the highest-paid defenseman on the team, and if he isn't keeping pucks out of the net and generating offense, then he is of no use to the franchise.
Morgan Rielly makes Maple Leafs announcement
On Tuesday, Rielly spoke to the media, where he was asked point-blank about whether or not he needs a change of scenery.
He immediately shot all of this down, saying that a trade is the last thing on his mind. Needless to say, the defenseman wants to stay put.
That's not what I'm thinking about right now
The responses to David Alter's tweet were quite harsh and tell you all you need to know about where Leafs fans stand with Morgan Rielly right now.
Many of them wish he were contemplating a trade. Some fans believe Brad Treliving needs to take action before it is too late.
To be fair, Morgan Rielly was pretty good in the playoffs, at least in the first round and the first half of the second round.
If anything, most of the attention should be on guys like Mitch Marner and John Tavares right now. They are the true culprits in the Leafs' downfall.
