Nazem Kadri Just Gave the Toronto Maple Leafs a Reason to Trade for Him

Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri was a great player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and there is no doubt that the fans in Toronto would love to have him back.
Nazem Kadri is a player that a lot of Toronto Maple Leafs fans have an emotional attachment to, and for very good reason.
Overall, Kadri was a sensational player, and he played with a lot of heart. However, Kyle Dubas opted to make a trade, and the forward was rewarded with a Stanley Cup in Colorado.
Now, the center is playing for the Calgary Flames, and he is in the midst of a seven-year deal that will take him until the end of his career.
Nazem Kadri still loves Toronto
With Kadri scoring 35 goals this past season, there have been all sorts of rumors about the Leafs trying to bring him back as their second-line center.
Now, some new comments from Kadri have surfaced online, which detail why the Leafs need to bring him back as quickly as possible.
As you can see, Kadri never wanted to leave Toronto. Instead, he was hoping to call the city home for his entire career.

I vetoed a trade to Calgary in the summer of 2019. And it didn't really have anything to do with the Flames or really any other team in the league. There are lots of great clubs with amazing fans and loud buildings.
But the team, the city; it was a part of me.
Because the thing I think always connected me to Toronto was because I got it, you know?
I got how badly the fans wanted to win.
I got how frustrating the jokes about '67 were.
I got the passion.
I understood.
And Toronto was my home.

Ultimately, trading for Kadri is going to be very difficult as the Leafs don't have a ton of assets to go around right now.
However, they can still at least try to get something done. If Brad Treliving brought Kadri back, he would be a god in the city.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs try to get any big moves done this Summer, especially with Mitch Marner on his way out.
