Scott Laughton Suffers Frightening Eye Injury Against the Ottawa Senators

Scott Laughton has struggled quite a bit since joining the Toronto Maple Leafs last Friday following a trade from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Overall, the Leafs brought him in to be their third-line center as the playoffs get closer and closer.

Unfortunately, Laughton has not come as advertised so far and the Leafs have struggled quite a bit ever since he and Brandon Carlo got into town.

Things went from bad to worse for Laughton on Saturday night during a loss to the Ottawa Senators.

He had to leave the game early after taking a stick to the eyes by his very own teammate, Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Laughton was immediately in pain and it led to him walking off the ice and to the locker room where he never ended up returning.

After the game, reporter Arun Srinivasan confirmed that Laughton is going to be okay and that he ended up getting some stitches.

Despite being fine, there is no denying that this is not the kind of injury you ever want to suffer.

Your eyes are vital and you cannot play hockey at an elite level without them. Thankfully, things did not turn out worse for the former Philadelphia Flyers forward.

Only time will tell whether or not the center is able to get it together for this team and help them get some good results come playoff time.

The Maple Leafs have now lost five of their last six games and the fans are hoping that they get this together sooner rather than later. Otherwise, their playoff hopes will collapse.
