Toronto Maple Leafs All But Confirm Their Official Lineup for the NHL Regular Season
Today, the Toronto Maple Leafs are playing their first preseason game, although the vast majority of the roster is staying behind in Toronto for some chemistry building.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs' young prospects in Ottawa for a preseason game today, the regulars stayed behind for a practice in Toronto.
This practice included all of the players you would expect to see on the roster this season, with a few exceptions due to injury.
However, this practice included line rushes, which means we got to see line combinations that are indicative of what the regular season is about to look like.
Toronto Maple Leafs lineup takes shape
Below, you can see that the Matias Maccelli was on the top line with Matthew Knies and Auston Matthews. Meanwhile, Bobby McMann was on the second line with John Tavares and William Nylander.
Max Domi was back at practice and slotted in on the third line next to Nicolas Roy and Dakota Joshua. However, expect Max Domi to perhaps take over Matias Maccelli's spot when the season begins.
Meanwhile, Valis took Nick Robertson's spot on the fourth line as Robertson gears up for today's preseason game. Steven Lorentz and Scott Laughton rounded things out.

On defense, Morgan Rielly was paired with Brandon Carlo, while Jake McCabe and Chris Tanev were together.
Typically, Oliver Ekman-Larsson would be with Simon Benoit, but due to injury, Matt Benning took his place. Lastly, Anthony Stolarz was the starter, and Dennis Hildeby was the backup with Joseph Woll out with an illness.
Overall, these are some very interesting pairings, and we cannot wait for the regular season to officially begin.
