Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is currently dealing with a lower-body injury, and it has impacted his ability to play against the Detroit Red Wings.

On Saturday, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators, although it came at a cost as William Nylander missed half the game with an injury.
Of course, this gave Leafs fans something to cheer about and hang their hats on. At the time, it felt like this was a good sign that he might play.
Unfortunately, that is not the case. While Nylander isn't terribly injured, he still isn't good enough to go for a quick turnaround in Michigan.

William Nylander out for the Maple Leafs

Prior to the game, it was announced that William Nylander would not be playing tonight and that Easton Cowan would be taking his place.
Cowan has been a healthy scratch for three nights in a row, and it was about time that he drew back into the lineup with his teammates.
With the Leafs saying Nylander is day-to-day, there is going to be a lot of skepticism, especially since the Leafs consistently drop the ball with this designation.
We have seen some guys go from day-to-day to week-to-week in the blink of an eye, and some fans just don't want to trust the team anymore.
Having said that, a bit of patience will have to be exercised here as the Leafs look to knock off the Detroit Red Wings and get a real winning streak going.
If the Leafs can string together some wins in Nylander's absence, it could very well be a good sign of things to come.
