Toronto Maple Leafs linked to $15 million captain as Brad Treliving looks to make a move

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has to make a move over the course of the coming months, and this has led to some significant trade rumors.
The Toronto Maple Leafs could use some offense right now. This is especially true up the middle, where they have struggled, particularly in their bottom-six.
With the Leafs near the bottom of the Atlantic Division, it has become clear that the team needs some help. Even their win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night was a bad sign.
It took them until overtime to win the game, and their offense was completely outmatched. In fact, Joseph Woll had to bail them out of the game.
Clearly, some changes are needed, and according to David Pagnotta, the Maple Leafs have seemingly found exactly the right person for the job.
Toronto Maple Leafs could eye Boone Jenner
Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner is reportedly someone the team is interested in, as he has a low cap hit and has proven to be productive when healthy.

He only has one year left on his four-year, $15 million deal, which means he would be a cheap rental for the Leafs. At $3.75 million, he makes the same salary as Max Domi, but with fewer headaches.
Boone Jenner's stats hampered by injuries
This season, Boone Jenner has played 16 games and has 10 points. Last season, he only had 26 games and 19 points. He was on pace for the best season of his career.
At 32 years old, Jenner has played a total of 757 games, and he has a total of 393 points. You can expect him to produce a point every two games, which is much better than Scott Laughton, Nicolas Roy, or Domi.
However, as Pagnotta explains, the Leafs don't have a ton of assets right now, and that makes things extremely difficult. Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has his work cut out for him.
