Toronto Maple Leafs Linked to Carter Hart in Bizarre Report
Carter Hart has yet to be reinstated into the NHL; however, there are various rumors circulating right now, and some of them even involve the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Following the Hockey Canada trial, there has been a ton of discourse surrounding whether or not the NHL should reinstate the players who were allegedly involved.
One of the men was former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart. Of these players, Hart is easily the most sought-after when it comes to an NHL gig.
However, teams are well aware of the PR nightmare that awaits them if they sign Hart. Fanbases are swearing against the goalie, and teams in desperate need of goaltending are holding off as a means of maintaining their integrity.
Regardless, various rumors are circulating, and some interesting teams are reportedly interested in the goaltender.
Toronto Maple Leafs linked to Carter Hart
According to Eklund of Hockey Buzz, one of those teams is the Toronto Maple Leafs. One has to wonder why, given the fact that they already have Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz. Not to mention, the fanbase would be livid.
Eklund notes that the Flyers would like to have another chance with Hart, although the Edmonton Oilers and Pittsburgh Penguins could also be in the market for the goalie.
Per Hockey Buzz:
I am very sure, from talking to sources, The Flyers would love another crack at him, but so will others. Edmonton, Toronto, and Pittsburgh are all keeping tabs, and if Hart officially gets reinstated, I believe he will be signing a two-way deal somewhere and not a PTO. I seems likely each of these players would spend some time at first in the AHL...
Quite frankly, it would be a mistake for the Leafs to go after Hart, and we believe general manager Brad Treliving already knows that.
The Edmonton Oilers and Pittsburgh Penguins make a lot of sense, but again, their respective fanbases would absolutely hate this.
For now, the point is moot. Carter Hart has not been reinstated, and the league has yet to confirm if he ever will be.
