Toronto Maple Leafs Now Frontrunners to Sign 20-Goal Scorer
We are about a week into free agency, and Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is still looking for deals that can help this team in the short term.
Free agency began on July 1st, and for the most part, the Toronto Maple Leafs were one of the quieter teams throughout the week.
While they did make some trades, they haven't made any big-name signings. Michael Pezzetta is certainly an interesting acquisition, but it isn't exactly a "blockbuster" move.
Regardless, general manager Brad Treliving still has some targets on his list, and a new report from Elliotte Friedman suggests the Leafs are on the verge of something.
Toronto Maple Leafs pursue Jack Roslovic
Jack Roslovic is a 28-year-old center who last played for the Carolina Hurricanes. In fact, last season, he had 22 goals and 17 assists for 39 points.
In 526 career games, he has 260 points, which puts him at about half a point per game. This is a solid addition, and makes Roslovic a player the Leafs could definitely use.
Friedman seems to think the Leafs are one of the frontrunners for the forward, which shows that Treliving is being aggressive.
With some of the best free agents off the board already, it is clear that Roslovic is one of the players still available.
There are plenty of teams that could use some center depth, and the Leafs have consistently been one of them.
This is a developing situation, and it will be interesting to see what the Leafs cook up this week as free agency continues.
If one thing is for certain, it is that Brad Treliving will not be able to take any days off between now and the start of the season.
