Toronto Maple Leafs Officially Sign Anthony Stolarz to a Four-Year Deal and It's a Steal
Just moments ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Anthony Stolarz agreed to a four-year contract extension that is going to surprise people with how cheap it was.
Anthony Stolarz and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been negotiating a new deal for a while now, and earlier today, we explained how progress was gaining steam.
Well, according to Chris Johnston of TSN, the Leafs and Stolarz have agreed to a four-year deal that will keep the goaltender with the team.
As it turns out, this contract is a lot cheaper than originally believed. The AAV on this deal is going to be $3.75 million, which means the entire deal is worth $15 million.
There were some who thought that the Stolarz deal was going to cost the Leafs between $4 and $5 million per season.
However, that was simply not the case. Instead, the Maple Leafs were able to sign the netminder at a discount that makes Brad Treliving look like a genius.
If you are a Maple Leafs fan, you cannot help but celebrate this new deal for what it is. A great triumph for the front office, and a goalie who has never signed a deal this big.

Anthony Stolarz will be the starting goalie to begin the season, as Joseph Woll is currently on a leave of absence.
Whatever the case may be, the Leafs are just lucky to have two goaltenders who can take the starting job.
Only time will tell whether or not Stolarz matches his performance from last season, which was truly impressive.
We look forward to the start of the regular season, which is set to take place on October 8th.
