Toronto Maple Leafs Trade for Auston Matthews' Former Teammate: New Development Surfaces
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews needs a new right-wing forward to play with, and his former USHL teammate Troy Terry is a great option.
Troy Terry is an Anaheim Ducks player who has done some great things with the team over the past few seasons.
The 27-year-old had a career-high of 67 points during the 2021-22 season, and it eventually allowed him to sign a seven-year deal worth $7 million per season.
Now, there are five years left on his deal, and with the Anaheim Ducks looking to retool, Terry could very well find himself on the trading block.

Interestingly enough, Terry was a teammate of Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews while playing for the United States National Development Program.
According to one individual on X, with Terry becoming available, a huge opportunity has opened up for the Leafs.
Troy Terry is reportedly available. He's under contract for 5 more years at $7M. He'll be 32 when his contract expires.
Terry is a playmaker who could put up 75+ points playing 1st line RW next to (former teammate and friend) Auston Matthews.
Makes a lot of sense for Toronto.

The price for Terry is unknown right now, although you would have to think the Leafs would have to spend a pretty penny to make this happen.
After the Mitch Marner trade, the team needs a top-line right-winger, and a guy with point-per-game potential would be great alongside Matthews.
The chemistry is there, and it would be a move that shows how Brad Treliving is thinking hard about what to do.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can really make this offseason one to remember.
