The Toronto Maple Leafs play the Colorado Avalanche tonight before playing the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday. The starting goalie decision has never been more crucial.
Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Colorado Avalanche in what will prove to be a massive test to see if the Leafs truly are a team on the rise.
They are looking to get a playoff spot, and after scoring points in their last nine games, the Avalanche are looking to bring them down a notch.
Meanwhile, the Leafs are also playing the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday night, which makes tonight's game that much more crucial.
With a back-to-back going down this week, Leafs head coach Craig Berube has been tasked with a difficult decision when it comes to the goaltending.
Maple Leafs pick their starting goalies
In the end, Berube chose to go with Joseph Woll tonight. This means Dennis Hildeby is going to get the start on Tuesday night.
Of course, Joseph Woll is coming off a shutout against the Vancouver Canucks, which means he is in a great spot to carry over some confidence.
For the most part, Woll has been really solid this season. He has two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.52, and a save percentage of .921.
These are the kinds of numbers that the Maple Leafs love to see, and they will be hoping for an improvement tonight against Colorado.
The Avalanche have shown some cracks lately, which makes sense when you consider how good this team actually is.
However, the Maple Leafs are on a roll, and if they can get some offense from Auston Matthews, that might just guarantee them a win.
