This season has been a rocky one for the Toronto Marlies, and with the Toronto Maple Leafs riding high, it seems like the AHL affiliate is suffering many injuries.

If you have been paying attention to the Toronto Marlies this season, you may have noticed that they have been extremely inconsistent to start the year.
The AHL can be a tough league, especially with the sheer amount of turnover every year. Meanwhile, the quality of an AHL team should have an inverse correlation with how good the NHL squad is.
Regardless, the Marlies are doing what they can, and as it turns out, they have plenty of excuses for why the season has been a bit rough.

Toronto Marlies deal with massive injuries

Prior to last night's game against Wilkes-Barre Scranton, the Marlies revealed that they were dealing with five injuries that impact a wide range of players.
Matt Benning, Michael Pezzetta, and Landon Sim are among some of the guys who have been hit the hardest by the injury bug.
D Matt Benning (lower body, week-to-week), F Marc Johnstone (upper body, day-to-day), F Michael Pezzetta (upper body, day-to-day), F Landon Sim (lower body, 4 to 6 weeks) and F Sam Stevens (upper body, week-to-week) will not dress for tonight's game.
When it comes to Michael Pezzetta, some Leafs fans might be wondering what is going on here. Pezzetta was brought in to be a tough guy, but has not cracked the Leafs roster.
Instead, he has been left to his own devices on the Toronto Marlies, where the team seems pretty mum on giving him an opportunity right about now.
Overall, the Leafs are not likely to bring Pezzetta up any time soon, especially with Easton Cowan joining the Marlies this week.
Only time will tell whether or not the injury bug continues to seriously impact this Marlies roster.
