Brady Tkachuk and head coach Travis Green faced loud boos as the Ottawa Senators trailed 3-0 against the Minnesota Wild after two periods.

This wasn't just a slow start. It unraveled shift after shift, and the building felt it early.
Minnesota struck twice in the first, then added another in the second. Ottawa had no pushback, no response.
The Senators actually led in shots 22-17, but that number didn't match the eye test. Too many looks came from the outside, with no traffic in the crease.
Fans didn't wait for the third period. The boos came midway through the second, loud and sustained.
And it wasn't random frustration. This is a team sitting at 88 points, fighting to stay in the playoff race.

Home ice turns against Ottawa

The issue wasn't just the score. It was how the Senators played without the puck.
Loose coverage in their own zone led to broken sequences, and Minnesota made them pay off the rush.
Ottawa's top six couldn't generate anything off the cycle. Entries were there, but possession died quickly along the boards.
Special teams didn't give them a lifeline either. A power play late in the second went nowhere, flat and predictable.
Behind the bench, Travis Green stuck with his lines. No shake-up, no spark, even as momentum slipped away.
That's where frustration builds. Fans see it. Players feel it.
Brady Tkachuk tried to spark something physically, but it didn't translate into sustained offensive zone time.
And when the third goal went in, the air left the building. You could sense the disconnect between the ice and the stands.
This is the second time in three games where the Senators came out flat in a big spot. That's not a one-off.
With the standings tightening, nights like this carry weight. Dropping points at home hits harder this time of year.
The reaction from the crowd says it all. Patience is gone.
