Troy Stecher's viral gesture is making him a hero in Toronto

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Troy Stecher has become a fan favorite in Toronto, and that was cemented last night with his performance against the Ottawa Senators.
Troy Stecher was struggling to get any playing time on the Edmonton Oilers at the start of the season, and it was beginning to become a problem.
Eventually, he was placed on waivers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs picked him up. It was a huge moment for the Leafs, who were dealing with plenty of injuries on their blue line.
As it turns out, Stecher has been the best thing to happen to the Leafs this season. Leafs head coach Craig Berube loves him and rewards him with lots of ice time as a result.
On Saturday against the Ottawa Senators, Stecher put together an incredibly high-energy performance, and he even went viral at the end of the game.

With the Leafs winning 7-5 on home ice, the Senators were looking to start some trouble at the end of the match, and it all happened in front of goaltender Joseph Woll.
Stecher was quick to clear out the crease, and once everything died down, he made numerous gestures to the crowd, getting them hyped about what had just transpired.
It was an amazing moment and one that completely hyped up the rest of the team, including guys like Max Domi and Matthew Knies.
Unfortunately, Scotiabank Arena has become a dead crowd over the past few years due to ticket prices and an increasingly corporate crowd.
This has left some fans a bit upset with the atmosphere, and you can see Stecher doing his best to bring the crowd back from the dead.
If the Leafs can keep winning games, perhaps then the fanbase will start to get a bit reactivated from its current slumber.
