Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is at the Olympics right now, in spite of an injury that could very well backfire spectacularly on Team Sweden.
William Nylander has been dealing with injuries all season long, which is actually quite rare for the Toronto Maple Leafs winger.
Typically, he is an Iron Man of sorts. However, this season, the winger has been forced to miss games and practices as his lower body bothers him.
The forward is currently at the Winter Olympics, representing Team Sweden. On Tuesday, he missed practice due to his injury, which put his status against Italy in the air.
In the end, Nylander played against Italy and even scored the game-winning goal. Now, Sweden is preparing for Finland on Friday, and Nylander has left the team in the dark.
William Nylander misses another practice
According to Luke Fox, Nylander was missing from Sweden's practice on Thursday, which has fans wondering whether or not he will play on Friday.
It seems as though the forward needs a maintenance day, which is something that is becoming all too common as it pertains to Nylander these days.
Quite frankly, if you are a Team Sweden fan, you are probably sick of the uncertainty. If you are a Maple Leafs fan, you are probably begging for the forward to come home.
These missed practices are the perfect example of how Nylander should never have gone to the Olympics in the first place. He simply is not healthy enough.
If Sweden makes a deep run and Nylander keeps playing, there is a very good chance that he returns to the Maple Leafs, unable to get on the ice.
For the Maple Leafs' front office, this has to be frustrating. At this point, Nylander just needs to cut his losses and come home.
