On the second day of training camp, Utah Hockey Club has decided to make a bit of a splash, locking up a key piece of their future to a contract extension that'll kick in ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Utah Hockey Club will be signing Dylan Guenther to an eight-year contract extension, with a cap hit that's slightly north of $7 million.
Guenther, 21, was selected ninth overall in 2021 by the Arizona Coyotes and had a breakout year in 2023-24, but will be hoping for more this season. In 45 games with the Coyotes last season, the Edmonton native had 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists), while adding 28 points (ten goals, 18 assists) in 29 games for their American Hockey League affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners.
More to come.
