Recently, the future of Brock Boeser has been a major story in Vancouver, and after reports that the forward turned down a five-year extension with the Canucks, many expected him to be moved at the 2025 trade deadline.
That didn't happen after the Canucks were not satisfied with the offers for Boeser, but now, his future has potentially been revealed, as the Canucks have stripped him of his 'A', handing it to Marcus Pettersson, a player that only just arrived in a recent trade.
Unsurprisingly, this has led many to believe Boeser will be on the way out as a free agent, and given the disrespect he's suffered over the past few days, that may ultimately be the best move for his career.
However, this is a team still locked in in a Wild Card race with the Calgary Flames in the Western Conference, so over the next few months, we will see what Boeser and this Canucks team are truly made of.
With 40 goals a year ago and 18 goals 38 points in 54 games this season, Boeser has shown that he can be one of the best goal scorers in the NHL, and at the age of 28 hitting free agency, he's in for a potentially huge payday.
Whether that's in Vancouver or not, only time will tell, but after stripping him of his A after not moving him at the trade deadline without an extension in place, all signs are now pointing to the home grown star moving on in the summer, so this is a story to keep a very close eye on moving forward.
