Vancouver Canucks superstar center Elias Pettersson finally revealed his real thoughts on JT Miller today.
The Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers have a couple of things in common this season.
Both clubs won their division last year and had high expectations coming into this season, but both failed to even make the playoffs.
Furthermore, JT Miller played for both clubs as the Canucks traded him back to the Rangers ahead of the trade deadline.
For Vancouver, the move made a lot of sense as Miller was at the center of a season-long drama as a feud between him and Elias Pettersson developed in the team's locker room.
Both players denied the rift essentially all season long, but it was clear that something in the Canucks locker room wasn't right.
That being said, things did not really improve for Vancouver after the trade, so perhaps the problems with the franchise are a lot deeper than that.
Regardless, the season is now over for both clubs, and it is clear that Pettersson feels a but more comfortable talking about what really happened.
This is what he said about his relationship with JT Miller during his end-of-season exit-interview.
"It was definitely something, I don't think either of us could prepare for, the way it blew up. It's like that was the focal point, not if we won or lost, but between us. Maybe we weren't the best of friends, but we respected each other as teammates. That's what I'll say."
It sounds like perhaps things were not as bad as the media was making it out to be, assuming he is telling the truth today.
Either way, the Canucks will need to lock in this offseason as they attempt to get back into the playoffs.
Hopefully next season will at least be drama free, even if the team doesn't improve on the ice much.
