The Vancouver Canucks finally pulled the trigger on a J.T. Miller trade, but former coach Bruce Boudreau isn't sold that it was a win for the team.
After months of speculation, the Vancouver Canucks moved J.T. Miller in a deal with the New York Rangers, and days later, people are still discussing the trade and whether or not Vancouver got the best of it.
One person that has weighed in plenty during this saga is former Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, who now opens up on the deal, as he was asked whether or not this makes the Canucks a better team moving forward.
Potentially over the long haul? Yes, I think they can. I think they can be better. I also think they can be better because obviously, the room wasn't working. They weren't playing for each other like you're supposed to be playing.
Like many, he looks at this move as addition by subtraction, as Miller was clearly a negative influence in the locker room, but notes that he's still a player the Canucks will miss on the ice, as he has nothing but praise for the 31-year old's talent.
Miller is one great hockey player when he wants to play, and he's proven it this weekend in New York even though they split the games, he got two goals the first game two assists today. I mean, he's he's a 100 point player all the way.
Only time will tell who got the better of this deal, but it appears as of right now, both teams could be happy with the decision they made, as Miller is on fire early in his second Rangers tenure while Vancouver used a piece from that deal to go add Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor in another deal.
