With training camps set to open in a matter of weeks, teams around the National Hockey League are beginning to prepare their rosters and that includes bringing in players on professional tryout contracts.

Acording to reports, the Vegas Golden Knights are signing 24-year-old forward Maxime Comtois to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

The Longueuil, Quebec native became an unrestricted free agent back on July 1st after the Anaheim Ducks decided not to issue him a qualifying offer.

Comtois appeared in 64 games for the Ducks during the 2022-23 season, putting up 19 points (nine goals, ten assists), 76 penalty minutes and was a minus-20.

The defending Stanley Cup champions are looking to add some depth to their forward group after losing Teddy Blueger to the Vancouver Canucks in free agency, as well as Phil Kessel, who remains unsigned as of September 1st. They also traded Reilly Smith to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Comtois will certainly have plenty of opportunities in training camp and pre-season games to show the Golden Knights brass that he's worthy of signing a contract with them for the 2023-24 season.
