Nicolas Hague has been among trade rumours all off-season long, and now, he's set to be traded to the Western Conference rival Nashville Predators.

The Vegas Golden Knights have been shaping up to make some big moves this summer, and while that move didn't come at the draft, at least one potential move has happened.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the team have now officially traded defenseman Nicolas Hague to the Nashville Predators, a team that are desperate to add some NHL level talent after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.
It's unclear what the return is, but with Hague an RFA this off-season, it's safe to say that with Vegas looking to add Mitch Marner in free agency, moving off of Hague is the best possible move at this point.
Although he's never gone over 20 points a season thus far in his NHL career, Hague has been as reliable as anyone in the league, and according to Elliotte Friedman, he's set to ink an extension as a part of the trade to the Predators.
That extension comes in at $5.5 million per season for four years, and given that the Golden Knights needed to move off that money, this deal will be a win for both parties.
That can't be definitively stated until the entire return is out, but Nashville needed a defenseman and Vegas needed to clear space, so this one is a great move for both teams and should result in more success for both in 2024/25.
With Aaron Ekblad and Rasmus Andersson the only other big RHD available on the market right now, this sets up a move for Vegas to pursue either one, but with Nashville's need, they went the cheapest possible route as they look to get back into the post-season next year.
