Washington Capitals sign six-time 30-goal scorer to short-term contract
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Washington Capitals have signed forward Max Pacioretty to a one-year contract worth $2 million. His contract also includes an additional $2 million games played bonus.
Pacioretty, 34, was traded to Carolina from Vegas in July 2022 and just over a month later, he suffered a torn right Achilles and underwent surgery.
He returned to make his Hurricanes debut in January, but just five games into his tenure with Carolina, he tore his right Achilles again and was forced to miss the remainder of the season and it's unclear if he'll be ready to go to start the 2023-24 season.
In those five games with Carolina, Pacioretty had three goals, two penalty minutes and an even-rating.
