Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin had a very dad-like response to the moves made by the team's General Manager Brian MacLellan this summer.

After losing in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Washington Capitals wanted to make some big additions this summer and that's exactly what MacLellan did on the trade market.

Over the last couple of weeks, MacLellan added forwards Pierre-Luc Dubois and Andrew Mangiapane from the Kings and Flames, respectively, as well as goaltender Logan Thompson from the Vegas Golden Knights. Then when the calendar turned to July, MacLellan made a pretty significant trade to shore up his defensive group, adding Jakob Chychrun from the Ottawa Senators.

On the way out of Washington in these trades were draft picks for the most part, but defenceman Nick Jensen went to the Ottawa Senators in the Chychrun deal, while goaltender Darcy Kuemper headed for the Los Angeles Kings as the return for Dubois.

After these moves were completed, Brian MacLellan received what can only be described as the most dad-like response via text from their captain, Alexander Ovechkin.

MacLellan told reporters that Ovechkin texted him a 'thumbs up' regarding his additions to the roster so far this summer.

"GM Brian MacLellan said Ovechkin sent the 'thumbs up' emoji in response to the team's active offseason.

Only time will tell how Washington's new additions will work out with the team, but it's safe to say that the Capitals' roster is in a much better place today than it was on April 28th, when they were swept in the first round by the New York Rangers.
