Huge and Exciting Update Coming out of Washington Practice Involving None Other Than Alex Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin was injured in an accidental collision with Utah Hockey Club forward Jack McBain last November. He fractured his left fibula and hasn't returned to the lineup since, but resumed on-ice training two weeks after the incident.

Capitals insider Tarik El-Bashir shared a new development hinting at a potential return for Ovi.

Indeed, he announced that the player was back on the ice with his teammates today for the first time since the injury.

The Capitals owner Ted Leonsis revealed at the latest Board of Governors meeting that Ovi was two or three weeks away from a full return, but according to El-Bashir, it could be sooner.

The insider added that this is the most work Ovi has done since the injury, leaving him to think the captain could even travel with the team next week:

Ovechkin has already missed ten games due to his injury, but remains at the top of the team in goals, with 15, tied with Connor McMichael.
