Jordan Staal clearly looked to get a call with his embellishment against the Washington Capitals, and in hilarious fashion, Tom Wilson mocked him for it as a result of his embarrassing effort.
The Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals are engaged in a fantastic battle through four games thus far, and while it's lacked the headlines and highlights of the other series in the second round, it's been some fantastic hockey from both teams thus far.
Late in the second period with the Capitals trailing by two goals, things got intense between the two teams, and during the scrum, Tom Wilson pushed veteran Jordan Staal of the Hurricanes.
The results were Staal clearly looking for a call by embellishing the push, and thankfully the officials didn't fall for it as they have done so many times in the past.
One person that didn't miss it was Wilson, who hilariously reacted after the scrum by mocking his veteran opponent, as we've seen him do several times throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the intensity goes to new heights, and as a result it's disappointing to see players like Staal clearly looking to get a call with his embellishment, and after the recent call on
Evan Rodrigues, it's shocking to see the officials not fall for this one.
Ultimately though, this ended in a hilarious moment from Wilson, who has quickly become one of the most exciting players in the NHL for not only his hard-hitting play but his personality as well, and while the Capitals are still down in this one, Wilson and the team definitely remain confident in this series.
