The Winnipeg Jets were down and out, but with a clutch goal in the dying seconds, Cole Perfetti made NHL history as he pushed the Jets to overtime.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs have been incredible thus far, and on Sunday night, we've witnessed one of the greatest Game 7's in NHL history between the Winnipeg Jets and the St. Louis Blues.
For 58 minutes of this game, it appeared as though the road team would cruise to victory and move on to round two, but in the final two minutes, the Winnipeg Jets turned the game, the series and the season completely upside down.
In the dying seconds facing a 3-2 deficit, it was Cole Perfetti that sent the Winnipeg faithful into a frenzy with a deflection goal that would tie the game and send an already thrilling game into overtime.
Not only was it an incredible goal and a moment, with the entire crowd in Winnipeg going wild for the shocking moment in the dying stages, but it was a history making goal in the NHL.
The goal was scored at 59:57 into the third period, and that made it the latest game-tying goal in Game 7 history in the NHL, beating the tally from Matt Cooke back in 2004 with the Vancouver Canucks, who scored at 59:54 into the third period.
On top of that, the game went into double overtime, and with less than five minutes to go, captain Adam Lowry would seal the 4-3 victory, sending the crowd and the city into a frenzy for the second time on the night.
This was arguably the greatest Game 7 in NHL history, and while Lowry's game winner will go down in Winnipeg Jets history, it wouldn't have happened without Cole Perfetti, who saved the Jets season as they look to chase their first ever Stanley Cup.
