Matvei Michkov was supposed to be a top 3 daft pick in this years National Hockey League entry draft, but we know because of his Russian heritage and the fact that he's still signed to play in the KHL for the next three years, his draft stock fell.

Despite reports that Michkov only wanted to be drafted by the Washington Capitals with pick number 8, the Philadelphia Flyers ended up taking him 7th overall. Now, according to Sergei Fedotov, Michkov's coach in the KHL, he never wanted to go to the Capitals; take a look.

Per Sergei Fedotov, Matvei Michkov didn't want to go to #ALLCAPS  and wanted to avoid being drafted by the club.

What's interesting about this is it proves that even if you're an insider, in cases like this, no one really has a clue what goes on behind the scenes of the draft. If Michkov never wanted to go to Washington, why was that all you heard?

Either way, the Flyers lucked out and drafted the second best player at the draft with pick number 7. Even if they have to wait for him to arrive, it'll be worth the wait when he gets to North America.
