Easton Cowan, a first-round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs, put on a show in the Ontario Hockey League Saturday, completing the Gordie Howe Hat Trick
Easton Cowan, the first-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the latest NHL Entry Draft (28th) overall, has shown a huge improvement in his offensive game this season. The 18-year-old is on pace for the best season yet with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. Saturday night, he showed he didn't mind mixing it up either.
Cowan showed what he could do in the Knights' 10-3 destruction of rivals the Kitchener Rangers. He scored the goal that made it 6-0 late in the second period to really put the game out of reach. He then assisted on the Knights next goal that made it 7-2. The game, as you can imagine, got more heated as time went along, and Cowan showed he didn't mind getting in the middle, dropping the gloves with Landon Sim of the Rangers, a draft pick of the St. Louis Blues.
Cowan has 19 goals, 36 assists, and 55 points in 30 games so far this season. Already career highs in assists and points, and one goal off last year's total with another 38 games to go.
