Stop reading if you've read this before; a brawl broke out at a hockey game. While that doesn't happen often, It's certainly not unusual. But being arrested by your opponent afterwards is certainly a new one.
Video footage has surfaced of a brawl between the Federal Security Service(FSB) known as the Phantoms and the «Tough Guy» team where two players clashed. The video, reportedly from March eventually shows all twelve players throwing punches at each other.
As an FSB attacker wrestled with an opposition defender, other individual fights broke out as Tough Guy players stepped in, throwing punches at the opposing team.
Reports indicate by those close to the Russian security service that several players were detained immediately and charged with «hooliganism,» which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. As if that wasn't harsh enough, the Tough Guys team was disqualified from the tournament.
If matters weren't any worse for the Tough Guy team, two more players were detained and ordered to surrender their passports as they were considered a «flight risk» ahead of their trial.
The entire situation is quite laughable, as it seems that the FSB team threw a temper tantrum after they felt they were humiliated. But let this be a warning to all who plan on taking on the FSB in a hockey game.
Three-time Olympic cross-country ski champion Yulia Chepalova remarked that the Tough Guy players should be ashamed for brawling with the FSB but that the criminal prosecutions were taking retribution too far.
So, along with the one morale of the story stated above, the last one is that the FSB overall are sore losers.
