Chicago Blackhawks release update on gruesome injury suffered by Samuel Savoie
During the first period of last night's game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild, Blackhawks prospect Samuel Savoie suffered a horrifying injury. After chasing down a puck Savoie fell awkwardly and crashed into the boards. Savoie's screams could be immediately heard throughout the arena and it was clear the prospect was in rough shape.
Medical trainers from both teams rushed to Savoie's side. Savoie was loaded onto a stretcher and rushed to a nearby hospital.
Today the Blackhawks provided the following update:
Team physician Dr. Michael Terry released the following medical update:
Samuel Savoie underwent successful surgery on his right femur on Sunday in Minnesota, and we expect him to make a full recovery.
Depending on the severity of the break Savoie could make a return late this season. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Savoie as his long road to a return begins.
